After more than 20 years of development, it has become the most important transmission technology in the world. The Chinese government has stated that it will increase investment in the latest fiber optic technology and increase the network speed to 20 megabits per second within two years. US Akamai Technology Company stated that China's current broadband download speed is about 2 trillion per second.

At present, led by Shanghai Opto-Electronics Institute, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, Xi'an Institute of Optics, CLP 23, Wuhan Ruike and other units took part in the commitment of the kilowatt-class optical fiber materials and all-fiber lasers to achieve significant progress. Recently passed the project acceptance.

The research group developed a single-mode all-fiber laser engineering prototype with a single-fiber output power of 1.5 kW, and achieved mass production of all-fiber lasers from several hundred watts to kilowatts. The series of high-power all-fiber lasers developed have been cut in thin metal sheets. Welding, welding and other fields have gained important applications.

During the implementation of the project, two new high-tech companies specialized in R&D of high-power fiber lasers were newly established, specialized production demonstration lines were established, small-scale production and sales capabilities were formed, and fiber lasers of hundreds of watts to kilowatts were realized. Industrialization.
